Navigating a Shifting World: WIES 2025 Targets MSME Global Breakthroughs

Padang – The World Islamic Entrepreneur Summit (WIES) 2025 is scheduled to take place from 26–29 November 2025 at Pangeran Beach Hotel in Padang, West Sumatra.

WIES 2025 Chair Assoc. Prof. Sari Lenggogeni, BeCON, M.Man, Pg.Dipl., Ph.D, explained that the summit serves as a global entrepreneurship platform, organized in collaboration with Indonesia’s Ministry of Tourism, the West Sumatra Tourism Promotion Board, and the West Sumatra Provincial Government.

Sari, who also leads the West Sumatra Regional Tourism Promotion Board (BPPD), said this year’s event carries the theme “Navigating and Changing World Order” under the spirit of #EveryoneCanContribute. The theme underscores the crucial role of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in navigating global shifts and seizing emerging opportunities.

WIES acts as an international advocacy platform supporting the expansion of MSMEs, which account for up to 99 percent of economic activity in developing nations. The forum pushes forward the “99% agenda,” aiming to strengthen MSME involvement in global supply chains.

For 2025, the summit will focus on three key sectors: tourism and travel, modest fashion, and fast-moving consumer goods (FMCG).

According to Sari, the event will bring together entrepreneurs from various countries, policymakers, and players from strategic industries. Their participation is expected to bolster the Islamic economic network, deepen insights into challenges faced by MSMEs, and attract thousands of participants from across the ASEAN region.

“WIES 2025 is expected to serve as a collaborative platform to accelerate MSME growth and regional tourism development, while further positioning West Sumatra as a prominent host for major international Islamic economic forums,” Sari added, accompanied by Committee Secretary Yulviadi.
